ASTRO creates guideline on radiotherapeutic, surgical administration for brain metastases The American Culture for Radiation Oncology has developed a guideline on the radiotherapeutic and surgical management for newly diagnosed brain metastases. It’s been published in Useful Radiation Oncology , ASTRO’s official clinical practice journal. ‘This guideline was developed by a global multidisciplinary task force charged with systematically reviewing and synthesizing level one and additional high-quality data into a distilled work item,’ Eric L suhagra . Chang, MD, a radiation oncologist at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine, said.
.. ACR and ASTRO release practice guidelines for new radiation treatments The American Society for Radiation Oncology and the American College of Radiology have released practice guidelines for image guided radiation therapy and stereotactic body radiation therapy in the February issue of the International Journal of Radiation Oncology*Biology*Physics, the state journal of ASTRO. These guidelines were released as educational equipment to aid practitioners in providing appropriate, effective and safe health care for patients. IGRT uses digitally reconstructed images of a treatment area to direct radiation to a tumor. Images are taken during the treatment planning process and then directly before a patient receives radiation. Both images are used in a pc in the treatment room, allowing doctors to compare these pictures and adjust treatment accordingly to better target the cancers while avoiding nearby healthy tissue.
